Introduction to Sign Writing

Introduction to Sign Writing

with Bodie Jarman

Learn the art of hand-lettered signs.

In this 2.5 hour workshop, you'll begin to learn the art of hand-lettered and hand-painted sign making. Guided by expert sign maker Bodie Jarman of El Oso Negro sign studio, in this class you'll plan, design and paint your own sign.

Each student will be given a lettering quill plus mahl stick, paints and an MDF board to use during the class. For those wanting to keep going with their new skills (and we hope you do!) you'll have the option to purchase your quill and stick kit at the end of the class.

Oh! And because we like to make a real go of things, we'll serve some drinks and snacks too. At an evening event, it's usually some charcuterie and cheese from Salt Meats Cheese, and a couple of tins from Young Henrys. On Saturday mornings, we keep things more PG with tea, coffee and snacks!
